Stock control and Purchasing in Jim2 that is unparalleled in the software market. Jim2 includes proper FIFO, serial number tracking on either Sale or Purchase, multiple stock locations, unlimited price levels and price breaks, individual customer-based custom pricing and price breaks, definable stock measures (such as unit, box and carton), unique 'Special Stock' for one off purchases, auto backfill on stock lines and fully supports the GST or any other tax system recording and reporting requirements, product recall and warranty issues.

Jim2 Script Editor, which allows for using standard Microsoft ActiveX Scripting languages like DelphiScript (Pascal), VBScript (Visual Basic) and Jscript (Java) to drive functions externally to the Jim2 engine. This provides the "glue" to easily tie Jim2 into legacy applications and new technologies (both hardware and software) as they become available. Standard RAD methodology and component/control event code hooks into Jim2 - providing a seamless interaction with products like Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook, even MYOB and Quick Books. Jim2 fully supports XML recordsets, the core technology used in B2B and B2C applications. 

Report designer allowing users to refine existing Jim2 reports or define their own using RAP (Report Application Pascal) in combination with Microsoft ActiveX Scripting. This is not just reformatting of reports (like other software allows for) - this is true Report Designing.

Full General Ledger including live Debtor and Creditor control to extend the work cycle beyond the "Job" and invoicing stage, allowing you to set trading term expectations that meet the needs of both the customer and your cashflow requirements. 

Live financial data (no more batches or data corruptions that cost, cost, cost) that is being collected as it happens - not after the fact. Jim2 will give you (and your accountant) a clearer picture than ever before, with click-through record drill down right to a transaction level. Jim2 concentrates on true expense capture.

INNOVATION

In developing Jim2 we have focussed heavily on two prime objectives:

• The need to make Jim2 practical to use so that it requires minimal effort to maintain, is easily deployed and will genuinely assist you in the day-to-day work of running a business.

• The need for the software technology itself to be stable and "bullet proof" in terms of reliability and functionality.

These prime objectives set us on the path to develop a truly innovative product - innovative technically, and innovative functionally.

Unique 'object locking' technology

Jim2 is a truly scalable multi-user application. Because records are being accessed and edited across many concurrent users, the need to keep data secure in edit is particularly important. From the ground up, Jim2 is designed to be used in real business applications. In business or accounting software where all users are accessing one data source (database), the risk of corrupting files and losing system performance is very real. To counter this, other software places limits on user access that can detract from usability. Jim2 has been developed with new and unique software technology (patents pending) that gets around these limits.

SQL/MSDE transaction based processing

Technically Jim2 is a proper 32 Bit, multitiered, "thinnish" client application. What this means to you is that if a "client" machine is being used to edit or add data, and the client machine crashed or hangs for any reason, the database remains unaffected.

Internally, Jim2 treats everything as an "object" (a job is an object, and an invoice is an object etc.) When you start to process an invoice, all the relevant objects are locked - a database transaction is started, all the related data is updated or modified, the transaction is completed, and then all the locked objects are freed.

If you are in the middle of an invoice, it either all happened, or it did not happen - there is no halfway, no partial data corruptions. All transactions are handled in SQL server, and controlled at an object level by Jim Server technology.

Microsoft Active X Script enabled

Jim2 makes extensive use of Microsoft's ActiveX scripting technology. This provides Jim2 with unparalleled power to be tailored to specific company and/or industry requirements, and provides the "glue" to easily tie Jim2 into existing legacy applications or new technologies as they become available. Scripts or "complete Jim2 Report datasets" (jrpt files) can easily be imported into Jim2 and instantly become seamlessly integrated into Jim2 generally or at a specific object level. 

Scripts can be written in VBScript (Visual Basic), JScript (Java) or DelphiScript (Pascal). Jim2 provides an integrated, fully featured with syntax highlighting for the language used. Forms related to scripts can be visually designed in Jim2 using standard RAD methodology and component/control event code automatically hooked in. 

Intuitive and Consistent User Interface

The Jim2 interface has been designed to be easy-to-use and intuitive. The ability to "drill down" and sort through live information quickly is achieved using familiar Windows methods (left or right button point and click, double click, drop and drag, pull down menus and so on) in a very consistent framework for users.

To automate as many functions as possible, and reduce user input, Jim2 includes many features such as:

• Global, Workstation and User sensitive defaults

• Intuitive type (as you start to type, Jim2 will start to pre-empt your entry)

• "Drop and Drag" sorting by selection headings etc 

• Cut, paste, copy text 

• "Create Similar" functions

• Standard Windows Print menu options (with context sensitive reports)

• On-line Help (F1 Function Key)

The Jim2 "Follow me" desktop feature allows ensures Jim2 will "follow" you around the network. If you change workstations, logging on will bring up your previous active desktop - including the live navigation tree you had open in your last session.

Our original concept of "workflow" has now been replaced with Jim2 "engine". In essence, we present to you a business product designed and ready to drive future development using .NET technology - including web enablement, user portals and document management. Jim2 is one of the few products market-ready for such changes - we are clearly technically 12 to 18 months ahead of other developers, with little to no disadvantage for customers if purchasing now (rather than waiting for the newer technologies to materialise).

Our aim is to push into the Australian market initially, with plans underway to enter the New Zealand, South African, Singapore and Canadian markets as soon as is possible. We see reduced barriers to entry in these markets - in terms of language and as Jim2 is clearly able to handle their tax systems (ie: GST). We have also released just over 500 copies of Jim2 to the Australian IT industry as an introductory offer - with little or no installations issues!
