The Consensus Software Awards exists to support and promote the quality of Australian designed software. The judging is based on the Consensus Model, and consists of at least two rounds of judging. In order to proceed to the full examination/demonstration round of judging the judges must be satisfied with the evidence provided that the judging criteria has been met. The judging criteria are: Innovation, performance and potential.
There is no minimum or maximum number of products that may be selected to proceed to the next round or which may be recommended to receive an award. All awards are made on merit and on the recommendation of the invited participating judges.
Judges should set aside sufficient time to read each entry at least twice. We recommend that they are reviewed in the order listed. Notes should be made on the Judges' Worksheet supplied. further information should be obtained directly from the listed company contact or from any of the supplied reference points. Judges are invited to share the results of their inquiries and other observations with other judges through the Consensus office which will ensure all judges are informed. Judges should not answer the summary question until all of the entries have been examined and questions answered.
Judges will be issued with an ID number and are invited to register their own check digits to validate the submitted Voting Form. The on-line Voting Form is the preferred method of lodgement. The voting process is confidential between the judge and Consensus. Whilst the individual votes of a judge are vital to the process, the results are arrived at by aggregation to form a consensus. Thus an individual judge cannot be responsible for the overall outcome for a particular entry. The Judges are not required to, nor are they recommended to, discuss their voting with anyone other than the Consensus program manager. If you are contacted by our external auditor, or any other person, please confirm their identity with Consensus before discussing any matter relating to the voting.
A judge may vote for as many, or as few, products which meet the entry criteria and in their opinion should proceed to the next round of judging. It is understood that only a full examination can provide a complete picture of the product and that the web format may not fully reveal the product, however it is the responsibility of the entrant to use the format to their best advantage to convince the judges that the product should be selected, and in this regard all entrants are competing on a 'level playing field', just as they would when seeking funding or making presentations to potential new clients.
Votes received for each product will be aggregated from all valid voting forms submitted. To proceed to the next round a product must receive a vote from least half (50% + 1) of the judges' taking part. A judge may only submit one valid voting form. Judges' should refrain from submitting a voting form until all inquiries have been satisfied. Only judges' that submit a valid voting form by the due date will be invited to take part in the second and subsequent rounds of judging. Completed voting forms to be submitted by Thursday 15 February 2001
If you have any questions, at any time, please contact either Julian Day or Terry Insley on (02) 9719 9344 or send an email to contact@consensus.com.au
